Ammonite Fossil Large on Stand

A large prehistoric ammonite, marine creature, related to the modern day nautilus is in it's natural rough original state, it features great detail with a custom bronze display stand.

The ancient Ammonites unlike their modern ancestors had a hard body shell and a parrot-like beak for crushing their prey. Ammonites grew by adding more chambers to their shell, they may have reached up to 6' in diameter at their largest.

The mollusc are related to nautiloids squid and octopus, flourished worldwide for approximately the next 370 million years and became extinct along with the dinosaurs in the late Cretaceous Period.
